4/ INSTALLATION PROCEDURES FOR EXISTING USERS.
Install the update to your usual Easy Auctiontools folder, typically c:\program files\easy auction. Your existing shortcuts and icons should now work for this new update.
This update uses your existing database but you'll need to convert the database using the included database utility.
Make sure you have a backup of your database in case something goes wrong. Run the database utility and use the Update V4 Database option to convert your database. If you get a "Operation Completed Successfully" message you can proceed to use EA.
Since you're now using you're original database you'll need to download the auction categories again. Remember in the case of the United States category list it takes sometime to download as the file is over 1.5 megabytes in size and over 12,000 records. You can't use EA whilst the download is happening. It will appear as if EA has frozen until the entire file has downloaded. Once it's downloaded you won't have to download it again unless the eBay categories change.
5/ HOW TO UPGRADE TO THE API VERSION (EXISTING USERS ONLY)
For existing Version 3 users upgrading to Version 4 is free. However the API lister feature is disabled (F7 Lister TAB is disabled). To upgrade to the API lister version users can pay an upgrade fee of $25US. To do this click on the Register Now Menu item under the Help Menu. Purchase the Upgrade via the displayed PayPal form then click on the 'If You've Paid Request a Serial Number Now' button. Registered users after August 1, 2002 need only click the request serial button as it's a free upgrade. Users who have previously made donations will have their donation refunded from the upgrade price. Make sure you advise us that you previously made a donation.
6/ SOME OTHER THINGS YOU'LL NOTE IN THIS RELEASE ARE:
The ability to Save any auction as a template and recall all template auctions via the Auction status pulldown. Auction template are saved by clicking the "Save as Template" option on the F7 Lister Tab. Any auction can be an auction template. Typically it will be one that you've entered a complete description or HTML format, entered category numbers, Start, BIN, reserve and Quantity values. You can then continually revert back to this auction template to list auctions.
Adding of a new auctions status 'Unsubmitted Auctions'. Any auction that is created via the Add Auction icon or Duplicate Auction without Id will get a status of 'Unsubmitted Auction'. Whereas in previous versions they were listed in 'Auctions In Progress'. To remove an 'Unsubmitted Auction' status from an auction use the Database Menu > Remove Unsubmitted Auction Status command.
The addition of a 'Watching Status'. When viewing auctions in Browser mode (either in Seller or Bidder mode) clicking 'Watch' button adds the auction to the watch list. Watch lists can only be viewed from the Bidder Auction Type and are accesses by clicking the Auction Status pulldown and clicking on 'Watching'. Bid prices for watched auctions can only be downloaded by clicking on the 'Get Description' icon.
The Location Database function previously in V3 has been removed from the main program and is now under the File Menu in the Database Utility.
